Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
