Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Season of Dominance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in prize money.
She earned almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a new level".
Other WTA Award Winners
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five finals.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
